Editing Task

We were given the task to edit clips of a face off. We used a variety of camera angles. Below is the short clip. From this task I haven't learnt a range of things: all filming must be done landscape as this is how we view it in the cinema or at home on our TV's. The lesson before hand we watched a video on cuts and transitions, from this we understood the different types of cuts and transitions. We used standard cuts in our clip as we couldn't use a variety of them. However in the future I will be able to utilize the different types.   https://flipagram.com/f/wVXA2xAsGy

Characters/Costumes There are 5 male characters and 2 female in the clip. Most of the men are dressed in smart casual clothing apart from the main male, he is in dirty work clothes and boots. As the main character he is in different clothing in order to make him stand out. Four out of the five men are shown as quite masculine men, this is shown by their clothing. There is one male character who wears a hat, finger less gloves and a waistcoat, as this is not the stereotypical masculine clothing and more a homosexual stereotype, we think that he may be homosexual. Also later in the scene some of the characters pull out guns including a female whereas he picks up a shovel. This is more evidence to suggest that he is different to the other characters. There are two women in the clip. One is dressed in a black leather and has short blonde hair, she is seen working in a JCB, traditional this is a masculine sort of job however she is in control of the JCB. The blonde woman also has a gun ...

American Gangster

There were 4 characters in the opening scene. 2 African Americans and unknown and a white foreign. From the opening sequence there was no dialogue however the sounds of American sirens made it clear that the location was in an American city. I could then narrow it down to New York as the sidewalks were steaming, this is very common in films set in New York. The genre became clear that it was a crime/drama due to the music and the actions in the opening scene. The relationship between the two African Americans is clear as they are standing together facing the white foreigner who was being covered in petrol, it is clear that the white foreigner is an enemy of the others. From what the characters are wearing I could tell who was the man in charge. One of the Black males was wearing a hat and scarf watching over, i perceive him to be the person in charge. His second in command lights a cigar and then sets the white man on fire, he is under the command of the man in the hat. The director us...
